In this tutorial we will learn how to create a logo for your personal blog. With every kid in the street having a blog it is high time that you make your blog unique with personal Blog logo with your photo or text on it.

So let’s get started wasting any further time. As usual fire up your Adobe Photoshop. Create a new canvas of size 308X261, keep the background color as White.

Step 1: Select the Round Rectange Tool.

Now as you hold down shift draw a Rrectangular over the canvas. You will notice that your rectangular is actually drawing like a square. Now you should get a rounded edge square. This is what I got after performing this step.

Now we are going to add some blend to the rounded square to make it look more glossy and neat. Select the square ( ctrl+click on the layer). In the layer window you will find blending options, just drop down it.

Select Gradient Overlay.. from the dropdown box and use these settings.

In the blending options give a stroke of one pixel. This is what I got after filling out round edged Square with Gradient and 1 pix Stroke.

Now lets rotate the shape. Press cntrl and click on the layer and it will get selected. Now press Ctrl+t, this helps us to oerform free transform on the the Shape. You can also do this by Edit>Transform. Now hold shift and rotate as shown in the below screenshot. Just practice it a bit and you will be comfortable soon. Very handy function in Photoshop.

Rotate in 3 steps. This is what I got after rotating the shape.

Step 2: Now we will duplicate this layer so that we don’t have to do it all over again. But we will only play with the gradient and rotation. To duplicate layer, go to layer window , right click on the layer and press Duplicate this Layer option. This will duplicate the current layer.

We will get a new layer which you can see are present in the layer window above. I have duplicated the layer twice. So I have two layers above the current layer. Now select the top layer and select the Gradient Blending option and use the following settings.

This is what I got after applying the Gradient and Rotating it a bit.

These are the Gradient Overlay settings for the 3rd Layer that we duplicated form the first layer.

This is what I got after applying the Gradient and Rotating it a bit.

Step 3:

Now you can see we are done with the coloring , now they look me crisp and neat. Let us now add a talking bubble. This shape you can find in Custom Shapes. It comes by default in Photoshop.

I selected the tool and drew it over the right top corner where there was white space. This is what I got after doing that.

Now we will add gradient to this bubble too. You are free to use any, but I chose to use these.

This is what I got after adding this gradient to the bubble.

We are almost done. Now it’s time we add the text i.e. our blog Name etc. Keep the name short as web2.0 has smaller names. I have just added my name with some fancy font.

For the Blog 2.0 I have used Trebuchet MS font. This is the Gradient Overlay setting I have used.

That’s it. We are done. My logo is ready. You can add a picture, of your name anything in this. I have added my name little shy to add my pic lol.. Anyways this is what I got.

Convert your Black and White photo’s to Colour in this simple tutorial.

This could be an interesting tutorial.
Using this you can color almost any Black & White image.
Actually there are two ways to color an image. You have to use them according to your needs.
The methods are sorted with simplicity.
I method: Simplest
Adobe Photoshop has a great blending mode called the color mode.
It can give fantastic effects!

Step 1: Select the color you want to do to a specific part of image
Step 2: Select “Brush Tool” {Size: Choose according to your needs — Mode: “Overlay” or “Color” — Opacity: 100 — Flow: 100}
Step 3: Go nuts! Just paint the area of the picture you want to color

Pros: Easiest coloring possible, well for newbie’s who don’t want the resultant image to be too realistic.
Cons: Very time consuming, provides pretty cheap results, you can’t adjust the colors because you’ll have to paint again…
II method: Hardest
Remember that in this method you’ll have to work with objects that are in the front and then go to the objects in the background.
Here I’m taking a picture that comes with Adobe Photoshop as a sample.
You can find it in [Drive]:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Samples\RanchHouse.jpg

Step 1: Change the image to color mode by Image —> Mode —> RGB Color (!!!IMPORTANT!!! Always check this)
Step 2: Zoom to about 200%
Step 3: Select the magnetic lasso tool {Feather: 1px — Anti-aliased: Yes — Width: 10px — Edge Contrast: 10% — Frequency: 100}
Step 4: Now click on the edge of any object Coat, Boot, Hat, Door etc… (Not the wall or the floor)
Step 5: Just move your mouse cursor around the edges of the object until you have a complete selection. Like this
{Tip: If your magnetic lasso tool doesn’t go where you want it to, you can just click the points manually. To remove the last point just press backspace. Refer to Photoshop manual for more assistance}

Step 6: Press Ctrl+J to do “Layer via Copy”
Step 7: Go to Image –> Adjustments –> Hue/Saturation {Colorize: Yes}

Step 8: Now adjust the Hue/Saturation and Lightness until your object looks realistic.
{Tip: The realism of the resulting image depends on the experimenting you have done. And the amount of efforts put to small objects. Always remember to experiment with the “Brightness/Contrast option to make your objects looks better}

Step 9: Set the blending mode of the layer to “Color”. You can experiment with others too…

Step 10: Do the same for every other object. (Remember to click on the Background layer first)
{Tip: Using “Magnetic Lasso” tool won’t always do the work … It is difficult to select the images using this tool…
So after using this tool… select the “Rectangular Marquee” tool and select the “Add to selection button” (Hold your mouse over the buttons to make the text appear” and then draw at the edges}

Step 11: To color the background (Ground, Wall) you need not worry about the selection too much because you have already colored the objects and put them over the top of the background…
So Click on the Background layer and just select the wall including the objects and directly apply “Hue/Saturation” to it…

Step 12: Layer —> Flatten Image
Step 13: Image —> Adjustments —> Auto Levels & Auto Contrast & Auto Color

This should make you able to color most of the B&W images to color.

Step 1:

Open the photo that you want to edit in photoshop.

We first need to select the eyes. For that we need to use the Eleptical Marquee Tool
I prefer zooming and then making the section. You can zoom by selecting the Zoom Tool (Z) .

Step 2:

Now let’s add colour to the eyes. Well you must be thinking of using the paint bucket by now. But we will not use that because it will flood fill the selection but we will just change it by using the hue/saturation feature.

Image>Adjust>Hue/Saturation

select the setting as shown below

here I have made the eyes look blue.
here is what i got
